TO TEN COMMON INTERIOR REDESIGN QUESTIONS

For questions 1-3 and their answers, please see my October blog.

4. How do I style a coffee table?

Larger hardcover books with beautiful photography are always great on a coffee table because they add interest and can be used for layering décor. Add found objects, such as a statement vase with some greenery, a sculpture, or a treasured keepsake. Vary the height and texture of your décor. Use a tray to anchor your grouping.

5. Can I mix metals finishes in a room?

Definitely! Aim to have your dominant metal make up about 60- 75% of the finishes in the room. Then choose one to two accent metals for the rest, paying attention to the undertone (warm, cool or neutral) to help determine which metals go together.

6. Should my art match my furnishings?

Art does not have to match the colors in a room, but it should blend, or harmonize with the other elements in the space and complement the overall design of the room.

Below, the juxtaposition or contrast between the furniture and the art works because the abstract painting complements the modern style of the room.
